Summary

The purpose of the role is to play an integral part in interacting with and advising senior management on technical accounting matters related to US GAAP and IFRS. This highly-visible position will develop and maintain close business relationships with various disciplines throughout the organization including Financial Planning and Analysis, Segment Controlling, Corporate Accounting, Accounting Global Process Solutions, Treasury, Tax, Legal and the Merger and Acquisitions team.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform technical accounting research and provide interpretation of ambiguous and complex accounting guidance to executed or pending transactions.
  2. Prepare accounting memoranda providing documentation of the Company’s application of accounting principles to specific transactions or events.
  3. Review contracts to identify complex accounting matters and provide accounting guidance to the business units and segment controlling organizations.
  4. Participate in assessing the impact of proposed accounting pronouncements and regulations (from the SEC, FASB, IASB, PCAOB, etc.) and assist supervisor in formulating the Company’s position on proposed accounting standards.
  5. Develop recommendations regarding the adoption and implementation of accounting changes for the Company and present information to management.
  6. Play a critical role in assisting the controller’s organization with internal and external audit issues.
  7. Assist in the review of the quarterly and annual SEC filings and the IFRS Annual Reports.
  8. Drives continuous process improvements to mitigate risks throughout the organization.
  9. Fosters an environment of strong ethics, morale, leadership and teamwork.

Qualifications 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
  2. Professional Accounting Certification (Registered Accountant, Chartered Accountant or CPA) is required.
  3. Public firm transaction advisory service experience is a plus.
  4. 5+ years accounting experience with solid technical accounting knowledge including leasing, revenue recognition, employee benefits accounting, consolidations, goodwill and intangible assets impairments, asset retirement obligation and environmental obligations.
  5. Minimum 6 years Big 4 public accounting experience.
  6. Experience working in a fast pace environment.
